Rfm James Winterton 26/08/1916
For his great niece Stephanie Scrutton (Liverpool Eng.)
L/Cpl Arthur Jackson 19/07/1916
Arthur was the son of Alfred Edward and Emma 16, Alexandra Street, Palfrey, his father being a leather tanner by trade.
Prior to the war he was employed as a currier’s labourer by Price Limited of Bank Street, Walsall.
Enlisting in the Army at Walsall in 08/1914, Arthur was drafted to France on Tuesday 05/10/1915 and was wounded in the neck and spine on Sunday 16/07/1916 during the Battle of Somme.
He was removed to hospital at Abbeville but he succumbed to his injuries.

Spr Thomas Stokes 18/02/1916
Thomas was a native of Norton Canes who enlisted in the Army in his hometown in 08/1914 and was drafted to France on Monday 01/03/1915.
He also saw service in Egypt.
Thomas died of septic pneumonia in hospital at Abbeville.
