Cpl William James Douglas 17/06/1940
aged 23 Son of the late Mr John C. Douglas and Mrs Eva Douglas, Waterside, he was a well-known Londonderry hockey player and member of the Y. M. C.A. Before joining up, he was a shipping clerk in the city. His brother Cpl John Douglas also died on 03/08/1944 aged 25 and is buried in Fontenay Le Pesnel War Cem. His brother Gordon was too young to fight in the war. They had four cousins, Elizabeth, William, Robert and James Hudson. The three boys also were called up into the British Army, fortunately they all survived the war. for their cousin Jane Taylor (James Hudson's daughter) and their cousin Alison Rennie (Elizabeth Hudson's daughter) |
