Edwyn was 36 and an eye surgeon in the London Hospital, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and in the R.N.V.R. with whom he was sent over to defend Antwerp in October 1914.
He was killed by a sniper while carrying a wounded soldier only a few days after arriving in Belgium.
At the time his wife was 6mts. pregnant carrying a son, Edwyn who was born on 24/12/1914.
for his grandson (and Edwyn's son) John Ridge.
